The NorVect Conference 2015 will take place at Hotel Scandic Fornebu, which is located in the area where the former main airport of Oslo used to be located, just outside of the city centre of Oslo. This hotel has a 180-degree view over the Oslofjord, and is surrounded by beaches, hiking tracks and a maritime lifestyle, providing plenty of facilities for an active stay – or just as a spot for leisure and pleasure. Fornebu is housing some of Norway´s largest businesses, and hence some spectacular buildings are to be seen in the surroundings nearby the hotel.
There is a great “park” nearby – the Nansen Park, a tribute to Norway´s national hero – Fridtjof Nansen, the explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The hotel is located only a 10-minute drive from Bygdøy, where numerous museums are located; Kontiki, Fram, The Viking Ship Museum, Norsk Folkemuseum and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. It only takes 10 minutes by car to the city centre, or approximately 20 minutes by public transportation. From the airport, it takes approximately 45 minutes by car.
Hotel Booking/Travel Booking
Delegates receive a special conference price at Scandic Fornebu when booking hotel rooms before March 29th 2015. The room rates are NOK 790 for a single room, and NOK 990 for a double room before this date. We advice not to wait too long with booking, as we have only reserved a certain number of rooms for delegates. Arriving by Public Transportation
By train
From Oslo, take the westbound train to Lysaker station. From here you can take bus 24 Fornebu, 31 Snaroya/Fornebu or 31E Fornebu Ekspress. The bus stop is called IT Fornebu. If you come from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, you can also take the airport express train to Lysaker station.
By bus
From Oslo, take bus 31 Fornebu/Snaroya from Jernbanetorget to the bus stop IT Fornebu. The buses leave every 10 minutes and the journey takes about 25 minutes.
By taxi
Take a taxi from Oslo city centre to Scandic Fornebu. The journey will take about 10 minutes if the traffic is regular. During rush hour in the morning and afternoon, the journey will take longer.
Arriving by Car
From Oslo, follow E18 towards Fornebu/Snaroya. Drive straight, through 2 traffic lights, and take the second turn in the first roundabout. At the next traffic light, drive straight through and then take the second turn in the second roundabout. Take the first road to the left, then you’ll find the hotel on your right hand side in Martin Linges vei 2.
